This Week in Cougar Territory - 3/3/2024
Esteemed Parents/Guardians/Teachers/Students,
Welcome to Quarter 3: Week 8. Thank you all for your flexibility with the crazy weather The Veneto threw at us last week. It seems that our messages sent out through “Everbridge,” e-mail, and social media got through. We did not have anyone show up at school on the days school was canceled and had no reports of anyone going out waiting for a bus that didn’t come. If any families did not receive our messages about inclement weather, please let me know. We need to update your contact information. Any feedback on how we could better communicate would be welcome.
We are expecting spring showers again this week. Hopefully, the rains will be less severe. We have a team of students traveling with Mr. Gunn to the Model US Senate event tomorrow. Our first spring sports matches (soccer vs AOSR) begin Friday and we have the JROTC Ball to look forward to Saturday Evening at the Golden Lion (Ederle).
March 11 the students will participate in a Career Fair in the morning. (It is an 1105 release ½ day.) Ms. Rivera is coordinating this exciting event. She has sent information out to students through their student e-mail addresses. They need to respond to select the area(s) of their interest.
March is officially National Reading Month. There are a couple of ways our students can participate.
- Our Information Specialist, Ms. Houston, has created a roadmap for all of the e-books we have in our school library. To access those books just click on the following link: https://sites.google.com/student.dodea.edu/eu-hs-elibrary/national-reading-month/read-across-america-day
- The PTSA is seeking student volunteers for Wednesday’s Literacy Night at VES. It’s a fun event for the whole community. Students can sign up to help using this link: https://m.signupgenius.com/?fbclid=IwAR0BkaJTBug3Jw99WGQdhoVtMrLiU4OJ9pNxbTAgFE3iwsMeSDTSomFW5VI#!/showSignUp/10C0D49ACAF2EA2FE3-48090299-literacy
The Food Drive has been extended. (Please see the attachment if you are interested in participating.)
A heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make the accreditation visit a success. And the thanks truly go to everyone. At the end of the day, student achievement is what it comes down to, and our students continue to make impressive strides.
