This Week in Cougar Territory - 12/11/2023
Esteemed Parents/Guardians/Teachers/Students,
Welcome to Quarter 2: Week 8. Every week has its fair share of excitement in a high school, but our last week of classes in the year 2023 has something special every single day. Our office has been taking lots of calls confirming the days of our winter break. Our students certainly know this is the last week of classes before our break. There are no classes between December 18th and January 1st. Instruction will resume on January 2nd. One of the tasks our office staff will likely undertake over the break is re-homing any unclaimed lost and found clothing items. We have an unsustainable growth of items being collected. If your student believes they have any clothes in our lost and found, please have them come to our main office this week!
To make this week a bit more festive, our student council is sponsoring a Spirit Week culminating in a Winter Celebration/Pep Rally. Show your spirit by joining in on these days.
Spirit Days Dec 11-15
Monday – Ugly Sweater Day
Tuesday – Holiday Movie Character Day
Wednesday – Holiday at the Beach (Tropical Theme)
Thursday – Winter Sports Day (Sport your best snow gear)
Friday – “Snowed In” Pajama Day
Parents and students are invited to volunteer for the Winter Celebration on Friday and can sign up with this link. For more details contact our student council sponsor at jami.bahmer@dodea.edu.
Hopefully, you had the opportunity to see a preview of the musical talent showcased by our students at the Tree Lighting last Thursday. We have our Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 12th in our high school commons at 1800. Our athletic teams have a break from games this week. This didn’t stop our basketball teams from making plans to keep their skills sharp. Our basketball teams have challenged the faculty to a friendly game on Wednesday at 1700 in the gym as a fundraiser. Should be fun for all involved.
Both the School Advisory Council and Installation Advisory Council will meet this week. Many student behaviors have been trending in the right direction. Punctuality has not. We had 203 tardies in the month of November. We will be discussing that and other important topics affecting our school community this week. All voices are welcome.
