This Week in Cougar Territory - 12/03/2023
Esteemed Parents/Guardians/Teachers/Students,
Â
Welcome to Quarter 2: Week 7.
Â
Week six and an incredible amount of excitement. We had a visit from the Director of Student Excellence (Dr. Howard-Brahaney), our garrison commander COL Horrigan, district leadership, and a parade of hundreds of elementary school students celebrating the hard work that went into earning a Blue Ribbon Award for their school.  Vicenza High School also received this accolade in recent history (2018).  I scheduled a town hall that did not have a strong turnout. The hope was that pairing the event with our first home games would be an opportune time to catch parents on their way into the school. As it turned out there were many conflicts that kept attendance low. We will try a different time and venue in January for a monthly coffee just to have conversations about the school, and school-related events. (A location on Ederle has been proposed.)  Â
Â
Our athletes did their very best over the weekend. The competition at home was fierce, and our Cougars basketball teams played with heart. The cheer squad kept our spirits high. We are awaiting the results from marksmanship and wrestling. One thing for certain is that no one left the Winter Show disappointed in the least. The play brought the audience through a circle of emotions. The individual performances were mesmerizing. Congratulations to Ms. Gunn and everyone who contributed to the program.  We are hoping Ms. Cornett, Ms. Sansone, and our students attending the STEMposium this week are equally successful. Â
