This Week in Cougar Territory - 1/1/2024

Esteemed Parents/Guardians/Teachers/Students,

Welcome to Quarter 2: Week 9.  Happy New Year everyone!  In the event that students don’t remember the last day before break, we ended with a phenomenal Winter pep rally during seminar.  That means tomorrow, January 2^nd, will be an “A DAY” (also known as a Gold Day).  It is very important to note this is the last week of our regular classes for the semester.  Next week (January 8-11) we will run a modified schedule for our Semester 1 Final Exams.  Most often semester grades are calculated by combining Q1 Grade (40%) Q2 Grade (40%) and Semester Final (20%).  Not all classes include a semester final.  

We have three 4-day weeks in a row this January.  This week is due to the January 1^st holiday.  Next week there is no student attendance on Friday (January 12^th).  This is the teacher's work day when final grades are calculated.  It also marks the end of the first semester.  January 15^th is a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 

With heavy hearts, we had to wish Mr. Houston, our 9^th-10^th grade counselor, a fond farewell as he accepted a new position in another DoDEA school in Ankara, Turkey.  We have a strong counselor in Mr. Jessup, but the department will be short-handed for the immediate future.  We will make every effort to fill the vacancy as expeditiously as possible.

1. We are seeking parent & student volunteers to help with concessions for our upcoming Wrestling, Marksmanship, and basketball home events. Please consider supporting our athletes by signing up for an event using the links below.
