This Week in Cougar Territory

Esteemed Parents/Guardians/Parents/Teachers/Students,

Welcome to Quarter 4: Week 7.  The big events of the week include our second week of AP exams, the final home sporting event of the year, and the Vicenza High School Promenade.  This week’s AP exams include AP Calculus/Italian Language/English Language/Physics C/World History: Modern/Computer Science Principles/Japanese/Spanish Language/Physics 1 and German Language.  We are hoping for strength and health for our students because there really are no good make-up opportunities for these exams.  Many of the tests are still paper and pencil.  Late exams are modified versions of the same test and must be ordered in advance.  (The cut-off date was March 15th because we are overseas!)  The way our academic calendar falls this year, the make-up exams come after the two weeks of AP exams.  That is exactly the week many of our student/athletes will be in Germany for the European Championships.  So let’s do all we can to keep these students strong and healthy.  All we can ask is that they do their best.

Our School Advisory Council met earlier this month.  It was determined that there was not sufficient interest to run a bus to Villa Tacchi for our prom.  The bus itself is a flat rate, and when the number of students requesting to ride was in the single digits it became cost-prohibitive for our riders.

Wednesday, May 15th at 1800, we will have our Vicenza High School Spring Concert.  We were unable to schedule a talent show earlier this year.  Some of those participants will be sharing their skills as a part of this event.  (Along with the Symphonic Band, Concert Choir and String Ensemble)

The 3rd Annual Spirit Olympics are coming this Friday! Student Council is currently recruiting parent volunteers to assist with the field day on Friday, May 17, and recruiting SENIOR PARENTS to be special guests at the pep rally that afternoon.  We are hoping for just a few more volunteers and lots more dancers.  Click here to receive more information on both of these opportunities.  If you have any questions our student council sponsor, Ms. Jami Bahmer, jami.bahmer@dodea.edu is the coordinator for this event.

On behalf of the Vicenza High School faculty, I would like to thank all the members of the PTSA and anyone else who contributed to the many tributes to our teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week.  It was just what was needed to get us all through this final stretch of the school year.

Students are encouraged to join in the fun as we have a spirit week to energize our students from here until our athletes take off for Europeans.
