This Week in Cougar Territory - 2/20/2024
Esteemed Parents/Guardians/Teachers/Students,
Welcome to Quarter 3: Week 6. Today our teachers were working on their Quarter 3 Modules of the College and Career Ready Standards. That leaves us with only three instructional days this week. We will make each one count. Our educational focus will be on our esteemed visitors from the Cognia team who will be doing their school visit this Friday! There will be a meeting open to all parents in the Vicenza Complex on 28FEB2024 in the HS Commons. We had four student leaders engage with the Cognia Team as they arrived for an in-brief yesterday. We were grateful for the leadership from Benjamin, Pedro, Kairi, and Mitchell who gave up part of their holiday for this leadership experience. There was drama practice in the building today, the Girls All-Star game this Saturday with teams arriving on Thursday. Our “dead week” between seasons promises to be pretty lively.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the outstanding performances of our student/athletes up in Europeans. Our cheer team took 2nd for Division II. Our girls’ basketball team was hardly a disappointment with many injuries. In their two last games, they lost by one point each. The boys’ basketball team stole the headlines with a “mercy-rule” victory over the second-place team. Kayla S, Ben H, Jace H, and Simon G were all named as All-Tournament outstanding players with Ben H bringing home the MVP honors. We are proud of all our winter athletes.
The other newsworthy happening was the safe arrival of our incoming assistant principal, Dr. Brodie. She is very much looking forward to meeting the students tomorrow.
