Dr. Jeff Arrington, DoDEA Europe South District Superintendent, is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Marc Villarreal as Principal for Vicenza High School.

For twenty-five years Mr. Villarreal has been a part of the DoDEA team as a teacher, assistant principal and principal. His journey into the field of school administration began in 2011 as part of the team that established Schweinfurt Middle/High School. Mr. Villarreal served as an administrator at Rota Middle High School and Sevilla Elementary Middle School. Vilseck High School marked his first role as principal. Following a tenure of five productive years in educational leadership, Mr. Villarreal made a meaningful return to the place of his inaugural teaching assignment in Europe, Sigonella, Italy. Through collaborative endeavors with both students and faculty, Mr. Villarreal achieved the prestigious distinction of being named Principal of the Year for DoDEA in 2023.
Before assuming his role in school administration, Mr. Villarreal embarked on his journey with DoDEA as a Spanish Immersion teacher in Okinawa, Japan. His teaching career also included stints at Bitburg Middle School and Sigonella Middle High School. His extensive professional experiences encompass both teaching and administrative leadership roles within elementary, middle, and high school settings, and span across the Pacific and European theaters, including Japan, Germany, Italy, and Spain.

Prior to joining DoDEA, Mr. Villarreal served as an educator at a bilingual school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His academic background includes earning a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Additionally, Mr. Villarreal actively engaged in a master's program in Educational Administration at Framingham University and remains dedicated to his ongoing pursuit of a doctorate in Educational Leadership.
Mr. Villarreal is the son of a US Army veteran. While working in Rota, he met and married his amazing wife, Cristina Diaz Rumph. Together, they bond over their shared love for their pets, their appreciation of music, their enjoyment of cycling and hiking, their adventures in exploring diverse destinations, their deep regard for quality time spent with family and friends, and their mutual passion for reading.
