Marksmanship

• The overall goal of Vicenza’s Marksmanship Program is to create student-athletes that enjoy the sport of shooting and to improve individual skills that include shooting from the kneeling, prone and standing position.  
• All shooters are students first, and shooters second. Academics are the team's top priority for all shooters. The team will strictly enforce DODEA-E eligibility rules for all shooters regardless of ability. It’s a privilege, not a right to shoot for our high school. All students must bring a current medical physical to the coach. This is required to practice. Students that have any “Ds” or “Fs” will not be allowed at practice until the grade is above this level. They will be encouraged to seek assistance with their at-risk classes.  Each week shooters will shoot a competitive match to determine match competitors for the weekend. 
• Practices will take place Monday-Friday from 3:20-5:30pm (changes may occur based on the school calendar). Shooters are expected to show up on time and be ready to practice by 3:20pm. Shooters will need to bring properly fitting sport shorts, sweats, a T-shirt and court shoes, and/or appropriate athleisure wear, as necessary. 
• All shooters earn their rank on the team during practices.  Ranking is determined by the weekly scored match on Tuesday and Wednesdays.  The team will be set at the end of Wednesday practice.  Shooters must complete a scored match to qualify to compete.  There are four varsity positions set, but the 5^th spot will go to the highest shooter from the remaining pool each week.  Only 5 shooters each will compete in sanctioned matches for varsity and JV (If applicable). 
• Practices will be rigorous at times; shooters need to hydrate before, during and after practice. Shooters need to eat proper meals and get adequate rest. To earn your varsity or JV letter, shooters must remain in good academic standing, shoot in at least two scheduled matches and not be removed from the team for disciplinary reasons.
