VICENZA, Italy — Student facilitators at Vicenza High School recently organized and hosted two panel discussions highlighting the wide range of career paths that support daily operations within a school community.

The student-led initiative provided participants with firsthand experience in event planning, coordination and professional communication. Organizers navigated last-minute scheduling adjustments, demonstrating adaptability while ensuring both sessions remained informative and well-structured.

The first panel focused on support roles essential to school operations. Participants included Librarian Wasana Houston, Secretary Brigit Accinelli and Supply Technician Mary Spitler. The discussion incorporated a “Spin-the-Wheel” format, creating an interactive environment that encouraged engagement and thoughtful dialogue.

The second panel featured administrative and specialist roles, including Vice Principal Dr. Doris Brodie, Psychologist Jessica Sparling, Counselor Collette Julian, Special Education teacher Stephanie Owens and Nurse Melissa Rodriguez. Panelists shared insights into their professional journeys and daily responsibilities supporting students and staff.

Throughout the discussions, students gained a deeper understanding of the diverse pathways available within education. Rodriguez emphasized that “the path to success is not always straight,” encouraging students to remain open to evolving opportunities. Facilitators also recognized the critical contributions of professionals working behind the scenes to ensure schools operate effectively.

Following the event’s success, student organizers expressed interest in hosting additional panel discussions to continue exploring career opportunities within the educational environment.
